How to clean a toilet tank
Hope this link helps you:
Use vinegar - it won't damage any components.
Everything I've read says it's safe to use vinegar.
Hi Evelyn, I use a 50 50 mix of white vinegar and water for the bowl and a toilet brush, scrub under the rim really good as minerals build up there, for the tank put 2 cups of full strength vinegar in a pitcher, and remove the lid to the tank, flush the toilet and pour the vinegar in as soon as the flap closes, allow the tank to fill, let it sit for about 10 minutes, then put on gloves and use a microfiber to wipe anything that looks like it has minerals stuck to it the flush will rinse out the lines as well. If the calcium is really stubborn, you may have to repeat the process

Instructions and a video
Hi Evelyn, simply flush your toilet and as the tank fills, add a good amount of white household vinegar. Let it sit overnight, then use a small brush or scrubby to scrub the interior sides of the tank and flush. Should be good for another several months. Easy peasy!
Maybe bleach or toilet cleaner left in overnight! Best wishes.
