It should be 2:1 alcohol to aloe vera gel. So it should have been 2/3 instead of 3/4. It will be watery but effective.
Add more aloe vera gel until you get to the the consistency you are happy with.
As long as you use at least 60% alcohol it'll work :)
I agree with Chloe. I would add more aloe vera. To get it just about the right ratio, add 1/4 cup of aloe vera and just under 1/2 cup of alcohol. You need a little more aloe vera to balance it out, but not so much that it throws off the 2:1 ratio.
I'll put more gel and mix again. Thank you all.
Put in another 1/3 cup aloe vera gel.
Some say vodka! If you can get it past your face!!! Lol
The 2:1 ratio is important otherwise you are diluting the alcohol too much. That's why you need to start with the 99% alcohol
Its ok it will work well
Had you considered using the more watery mixture as a surface disinfectant? For outside the home I would use paper towels, tissues or napkins to wipe something down. Then do the 2:1 ratio for your hand sanitizer.
Hi Joellen, you can add more aloe vera gel to thicken it up a little.
Hi Joellen - The CDC recommends alcohol in hand sanitizer, however it's not always appropriate for some folks. This one is made without alcohol if that is an option for you. It's super easy and takes approximately 30 seconds to make. Hope this helps! Hugs, Holly
