Can anyone tell me how to remove double-sided tape?

I used a double-sided foam tape to hang a lightweight cloth flag in a bedroom.

I removed the flag and can't remove the tape.

Maybe if you heat it up with a hair dryer and see if you can get a loose corner and pull it off. Any leftover adhesive could be wiped off with Goof Off. Just a little bit on a cotton ball and then wipe clean with a warm soapy rag after.

Lynn: unless the wall is flat or eggshell finish, Goo Gone may help

You will want to warm the adhesive so it releases. As mentioned by others, a hair dryer is one way to warm it off. A plastic scraper will help to lift it away from the wall. Be careful not to gouge the wall. Gently clean any residue with a magic eraser or microfiber cloth. Goo Gone is great for removing glue, but it might damage your wall so go with the gentle methods first. Good luck and be well!

  • Wd40 will release the goo on the tape.

Start with a scraper that won't damage the wall. I like these:

After you have scraped as much as possible, use a solvent for the adhesive. Goo Gone, Goof Off, or vegetable oil would work. Then clean up.

Use dental floss or fishing line as a "saw". Hold a foot or so of line between each hand and position behind the tape edge. Gently move the line back & forth cutting the adhesive away from the wall. Any bits that remain should easily be rubbed away

Hi Lynn. I'm Cindy. Use your hair blower to soften up the glue. Then use a scraper to pry the tape loose. Any glue residue can be removed with WD40. Good luck Lynn.

Hello I would try prying scraping off with either a depleted gift or credit card or carefully a retractable razor to pry loose and possibly a small amount of lighter fluid. Lighter fluid is my favorite adhesive dissolver. The application tip allows very little fluid to be used.

I'd get it warm with a hot wet rag. Heat melts glue. goodluck.

Thank you all for your solutions. I used the hair dryer and putty knife . Worked very well.

Residue will take time to dissolve with good off, will continue working on that.

    Thanks again

You could try Surgical Spirit. Let it soak in and the use a wallpaper scraper to lift it off.
