Soak a paper towel in white vinegar and apply to the area, let sit for 10-15 minutes to dissolve the buildup. . Sometimes I simply wrap the soaked towel around the faucet handle.
I just scrub it off
You can buy a product called Lime Away that will remove the calcium deposits. I would try the vinegar first--as others have suggested. I wrap my faucets with a vinegar soaked towel, let it set for at least 30 minutes, and then scrub with an old toothbrush.
WD 40 does a great job of removing calcium buildup. Make sure you use in a well ventilated area.

Vinegar dampened towel or paper towels wrapped around the faucet. Do not use vinegar if the counter is granite or marble.
Hi Lyn,
I use vinegar. I spray it on, let it sit for a while, then use a rag, sponge or a paper towel to clean it off. I have found that vinegar and a non-scratch scrubby will work wonders. Then I wipe it all down with water and polish with a dry cloth. Wishing you the best.

I put vinegar and a small amount of baking soda in a ziploc bag, tie it around the faucet and let it sit (if the facuet has a bit of a curve to it). This helps loosen everything up. Then I take a toothbrush to any grime left behind.
Hello.
There are several options. CLR, Whink lime remover or white vinegar soak in a plastic bag would work.
I recently did the vinegar soaks overnight on my shower heads.
