Use oven cleaner. Spray it on heavy, put in plastic garbage bag and let sit over night. Scrub with an SOS pad. May take several attempts. Good luck, it'll get clean.

Start with scrubbing it with SOS pads. That should get some of the gunk off. Then go to the oven cleaner for the tough stuff.
Spray a lot of Oven cleaner on the pan. Put the pan in a tightly closed bag then put out in the sun to heat it up. Let sit outside for a day or so. Then rinse. You may have to do this twice, but it will work. Get the oven cleaner in the dollar store. I buy, the heavy duty grill and oven cleaner from the dollars tore. Yellow can.
At first I would try a paste of baking soda and water, cover it very well and let it sit overnight, then use the rough side of a sponge and scrub off. This may take several times to do this.
If it does not respond to the baking soda paste, the go to the Dollar store oven cleaner, spray heavily, bag it up in plastic, let it set where for at least 8 hours. Please wear protective gloves. Rinse it off. Repeat if needed.

Hi! All great suggestions, but if you have an SOS pad or Brillo pad start scrubbing with a small amount of hot water. If you don't have one of those, a scrubby and Bon Ami or Bartender's friend will also work. If you want to take a break, fill it with hot soapy water and let it sit for awhile and after draining, start scrubbing again. It will look great! Good luck and stay safe!
Put it in a garbage bag with ammonia and hot water, tie the bag closed (you want it completely submerged) and soak overnight (I would suggest a solid 12-24 hours). Then, it should be fairly easy to clean with a scrubby sponge or sos pad, most of the gunk will practically wipe off.

Bar Keepers does a nice job on stainless steel.
Hello there,
I have just done this very thing myself. What I did was, soak the whole pan in a mix of Dishwasher powder, Bio Washing powder and Bicarbonate of soda to soften it. 48 hours later I used steel wool pad to take of the worst and then re soaked and then used stainless steel cleaner and Bar keepers friend to remove most. Then I put it in the dishwasher. Not perfect but getting there!
I have a stainless steel electric frying pan and to keep it looking bright and shiny after using and normal soap and hot water cleaning, pour in some lemon juice, let sit for a minute and if necessary use a plastic scrubber. It is 15 years old and still looks like new.
Thanks, I will try.
