How to clean old tube aluninum chairs
I have a set of old tubular aluminum chairs with redwood slats for seat and back. I know to sand and restain the redwood and replace slats that are deteriorated. My question is how to freshen up and clean the aluminum parts. They are not painted. There is some pitting on the aluminum. My kids got an old VW bus and these are from the same era and i want to surprise them with the chairs. They were Gpas.

I would spray them with WD40 or hand wipe it on a rag,
then take a wad of aluminum foil and use it like sandpaper and “sand” the aluminum.
It make your hands black, so I’d wear rubber or thick latex gloves and keep wiping off the black oxide with a different rag.

They look like they're in great shape! I'd just clean them up with mild soap and warm water. Here's some more info: https://www.diynetwork.com/how-to/maintenance-and-repair/cleaning/how-to-clean-aluminum

They look great. Automotive stores sell cleaning solutions made specifically for aluminum, but I think some soapy water and a rag would work just fine.
Try using WD40 and a green kitchen scrubby or 0000 steel wool
You could also try spray painting the aluminum with a silver finish.
