Make sliding barn door set up myself? Working with lack of a budget.
Cheers fellow Hometalkers, I am hoping that someone knows what parts I could buy myself to create a sliding barn door hardware idea I have in mind. They have all been out of my price range for 4 years now so I am turning to the people with all the great ideas as I am sure this knowledge is in more than one mind here, bwahahah. Do share, please, bwahahaa. Waiting until I have the money is not working because there is always something more important, like food!! Cheers, Linda

Hi Linda, you could always put wheels on the bottom of your door (the straight ones - not the ones that swivel) so it will roll back and forth. Then you could build a header on top of the wall you want it to "roll" across so it stands up right.
I am concerned about something you said. You are having a difficult time getting enough to eat? If you qualify you should apply for food stamps. There are also organizations that provide monthly food boxes as well as churches that provide food and clothing to those in need.

I have seen people used doors they have found at the curb to make the barn door and then get the hardware online. Perhaps you could find the hardware in an online marketplace. Sometimes people buy them and never make the door...and just want to get rid of their kits. Worth a shot.
We purchased the hardware online for about $40, and made the doors ourself. :)
HOne Depot Has everything you need
Home Depot or lowes both carry the hardware you need...the casters also... We just remodeled a home and built a barn-style pocket door it was a lot of fun to do and I made the complete door, hardware and all for under 60 bucks! Good luck! Have fun!
