Where can I find a beginner organizer??
I don't want someone that has OCD and just wants to throw everything away. LOL I just don't know where to begin. For the most part I'm organized but there's places that I'm not sure of where to start. Or who to donate it to or sell it to?

You can check in your area for a business that specializes in organization or perhaps you can enlist the help of a family member or a friend to help you out. You can donate items to places like the Good Will and other thrift stores. Some churches also have donation sites. My suggestion is to start with one area--like a closet, a dresser, or a pantry and then proceed from there.
Are you looking for a person to come and help you? Or something like a blogger with good advice?

If you are on facebook, I belong to a group "Organizing Love" that is very helpful. In general, when you purge clothing take a look at it and ask yourself a few questions. Would I buy this today? Look for stains or discoloration. Do I love it? If my clothes are in good shape but I don't or can't wear any longer, I donate to a women's organization through the YWCA that helps them get back on their feet. I never deal with selling anything so I can't give you advice on that. However, I do purchase things on fb marketplace and feel it is a good venue for second hand sales.
If you are looking for a professional organizer to come assist you, follow your fingers through the yellow pages of your local phone book. Another thing you can do is Google for organizers in your area and start calling around to see who may be comfortable with in your home.
Hi Karen, here's an easy rule to follow, start in one room, sort your stuff into 3 piles, keep, toss, and donate. Once the sorting is done, start to put the keep stuff away, throw away the toss stuff, and have the donate stuff picked up , or drop it off at a centre. Hope this helps
I donate to St Vincent de Paul. I give some clothes to Dress for Success, it helps women get back on their feet. I also take some to consignment shop. Sometimes, if I love the fabric, I put the item in my sewing/crafting to repurpose. I like the feeling I get when everything is organized.
thank you for your input, those some good ideas. I appreciate that. I do take some things to St Mary's parish because it's an outreach center. They only charged a dollar for people to go in and get a half hour's worth of whatever they need. So it's not like it's being overpriced by taking it to the Salvation Army or something.
Hi Karen - This is one of my favorite articles on cleaning, organizing and decluttering. It really breaks down the steps of the process, and even includes an interview with TV show Hoarders star Matt Paxton. Hope this helps! Hugs, Holly
