Can you better explain what you mean by a concealed unit? Are you looking to just add a storage place like a drawer or a hideaway?
A picture would be helpful, but I'm thinking for a desk, something that folds down and up on a hinge may be what you need.

Hi! With doors or a sliding panel? It's hard to know what to suggest without a bit more information. A picture would help, too!🙂
You can box it in and add a door.
