I firmly believe soap and water is better for cleaning. You can put Dawn dish detergent in a spray bottle and clean almost anything. Yes, I use disinfectant wipes for some things, but disinfectant is not very effective on a dirty surface. You need to clean it first. I won't recommend spraying a bleach solution on anything, as it is very damaging. Better to go with a mixture of hydrogen peroxide and water. Good luck and stay safe!
Putting bleach in any strength in a spray bottle is dangerous, it creates an aerosol that could do damage, imagine getting that in your eyes. What is most effective for cleaning and disinfecting is soap and water. It kills germs of all types. Hydrogen peroxide is specific for certain types of bacteria.
Last year I retired after many years in a hospital medical laboratory, we used to use 10% bleach on surfaces to disinfect. This was discontinued and we went to disinfecting chemical wipes with a prescribed killing time of a few minutes. These are used all over the hospitals by the staff. By using these disinfecting wipes we are creating an environment where super germs and viruses are flourishing and are becoming more and more resistant to antibiotics because they mutate to survive. Add into that no outside air supply-keep the windows closed. Patients are now in a closed environment where they are exposed to this and are trying to recover from illness.
Really, all that is needed is soap and water, nothing anti-bacterial.
Hi Thea - This is the all-purpose cleaner that we use and it works really well. You can always change up the scents too. After changing my diet, switching over to all-natural homemade (primary) and store-bought (backup) has been huge for improving my health. Hope this helps! Hugs, Holly

Thank you, Betsy, Peggy, Cynthia, Holly, all is very helpful. As a senior, I’ve tried to be careful, but the shopping carts worry me. I feel better knowing that I can spray it first. Wishing all a good day.
I use hydrogen peroxide straight in a spray bottle. This is on the advice of the pediatrician since it is safe if you ingest it.
anything that is 70% alcohol can be used as disinfectant (strong liquor, mineral spirits, denatured alcohol, hand sanitizers just has to be at least 70% or higher). soap and water only cleans does not disinfect anything. hydrogen peroxide is ok but is a bleaching agent & can't be used on just any surface. Bleach is the only thing on consumers market/general public that kills all germs & diseases and that cannot be safely used on just anything unless diluted. 1/4 cup water 3/4 cups 70% or higher alcohol and add your favorite 100 % pure essential oils to make it smell like you like mix well in sprayer. this may as well spot wood furniture or cloth test it out first before you ruin anything.
Try this one! https://www.craftylittlegnome.com/diy-disinfectant-spray/
Take a spray bottle, fill it about 1/8th full with rubbing alcohol, add a drop of Dawn dish washing soap, a few drops of scented oil (optional, but makes it smell so good), fill the rest of the way with water, shake together, and you’re good to go! It makes your granite (or any counter-top) shine and feel so smooth at a fraction of the price.
It can be used on any surface except a painted one.
