Set aside a dedicated area. I have material folded and wrapped around cardboard, then stacked. Not much of it so it's easy to manage. Small items (chenille ties, buttons, poms, beads, etc) are in clear plastic jars and organized together by type of item. I bought some large Dollar Tree bins to organize the items together and it also makes it easy when working on a project because I can just grab a bin or two rather than trying to stack several things on my arms to move them to my work space.

Hi Suzy,
I do like was said above and use bookcases. I like the open concept so that I can use the space however I want. I then use baskets and old drawers to keep all of the supplies organized on the shelves. I especially like using old sewing drawers. They are narrow and long so fit well on bookshelves.
I purchased two steel shelves with wheels on from Amazon. I keep things in boxes and crates and you can move the 6' tall shelves if you want to. A pegboard is a great organizational help as well for much used things like scissors etc. You can put small items in ziplock bags and punch a tiny hole in and hang as well. So easy to find.
Hi there,
Someone after my own heart! I use clear white plastic storage boxes. You can sometimes get colour ones too. Stack the crafts in same coloured boxes and label them and then stack them. That's my way of doing things. I'd never find anything otherwise.
Hello. It sounds like my situation. I like to use plastic and wire drawer bins and shelving to sort my supplies. I have a large craft table which is actually a drafting table with a stool which offers a lot of storage underneath the tabletop. Additionally I have a craft cupboard and stacked suitcases full of craft supplies. Sorting and labeling is very helpful.
hope you find the perfect solution for your supplies.
Bookcases in the center of a room beneath a table top works well for some crafters. You can make the table whatever height you like by decididng on whether you prefe to craft standing up or sitting down. Depending on size you could also store several bins beneath the center of the table fo less often used items. If you do a lot of fabric cuttting the raised tabletop is ideal. You really have to design the space for your unique craft interests so lots of storage bins, baskets, boxes and open storage on vertical spaces such as pegboads and hooks is ideal for lots of craty. Have fun with designing your cat area...that's crating in itself! :) Good luck!
I put together some ideas in my craft room tour post here: https://mermaidsden.com/blog/mermaids-den-craft-room-tour
Get some pallets, which can easily be found for free, and make boxes. By making them yourself you’ll get the exact sizes you need. Then you can paint, stain, or leave them natural. You can make them with tops so you can stack them, or without tops so you can stack with the open side facing out for easy access to the contents.
I had to combine my bedroom and craft room (a challenge, indeed. I have several posts that may give you some ideas, they start here
You want plastic containers - stacking or with drawers
A very nice man gave me 3 sets of nice garage shelves, 5 shelves each. I took my plastic storage bins, put fabric in one, yarn in another, wreath forms in another, ribbon another, Christmas ornaments (craft) another, and so on. I used bright yellow duct tape to make labels. Shelves are great for me. Good luck!
