You can add a frame to it. There are several projects here to help. Just decide on material first.
You could paint the frame with rustoleum. I love rustoleum metallics.
Or add something with a heavy duty glue to the frame like oyster shells. Here is a tutorial. Isn't this cool:

The easiest way would be to glue corner trim to all 4 corners (use E6000 and secure them with tape). Cut wood trim precisely the measurement from the edge of 1 corner trim to the next and glue again. Repeat on all 4 sides. Paint or stain the wood prior to gluing 😎
