How do I get the paint off?

I am trying to make a present for a wedding and can’t seem to get it right. I tried etching first but failed at that so I decided to paint over it. That didn’t work either. Is there a way to get both off? I found a baking soda method for the etching but can’t find a wait to get the paint off. I used a sharpie paint pen. This is on a mirror. The sharpie paint pen is oil based.
I am assuming this is on glass? since you were using an etching cream. The sharpie paint pen is alcohol based so you could try alcohol to get it off. If that doesn't work, try using a stripper.
What is the material?
I would try mineral spirits and a razor blade, good luck!
You could always use a PRIMER... and then paint over!!
Citristrip stripper should work.

Hello, hard to tell without seeing what it is on and what it is made of
if the sharpie pen is water based (blue strip on pen), spray with windex and let sit for 5-10 minutes then wipe off. If the sharpie pen is oil based (pink stripe on pen), I'm less familiar with that, but you could try alcohol, nail polish remover, mineral spirits. It may scrape off with a razor blade too if it's on glass. Good luck!
Acetone, the kind you buy in the hardware store not nail polish remover should do it.
Have you tried a magic eraser? I can get sharpie off with one of those sometimes, but I usually just use it for smaller things.

Hi there, you can try using WD-40, rubbing alcohol, or acetone-based nail polish to remove the Sharpie
Is it wood? You can lightly sand it. Or, you could paint a solid color over it.
