Hi! Hope this helps:
Jo: maybe this will help
Yes it can.
Hi Jo, hope this helps you out,
This tutorial is great even tells you what paints to use or not use.
Hello. It probably can be done but I’m not sure it would be a pleasing finish. Think about painting something like burlap and the knobby texture. This texture would be more difficult to get the paint to fully completely applied in a pleasing manner. I would have second thoughts about doing this project.
Hi Jo, hope this helps you get your furniture painted.

I would not I don't like the feeling of painted fabric
Sure it would work. Just be sure you use a fabric paint or add textile medium to a regular paint. To keep fabric's softness, you might want to sand between coats. Good luck!
I would not sand knobby fabric, as the knobs would be abraded.
I would spray it with vinyl car seat dye, from an auto parts store, which comes in about 8 different colors. Check with several auto parts stores, as their inventory will vary greatly.
Yes you will need to use a fluffy filler to cover all the spots
Usually you will want to paint fabric that is smooth.
