How to paint a bedroom wall with wallpaper glue residue on it?
I need to paint my master bedroom's walls that sadly have grass cloth wallpaper's 30 year old glue on them. I have gotten both layers of the wallpaper off, but can not get all of the glue residue off even with sanding! I need something to camouflage these bumps everywhere. Help!

You can try steaming the glue off. It could make the glue soft enough to scrape off with a scraper.
There is a special chemical that removes that residue. Check that pin https://www.pinterest.com/pin/11470174037518065/
They make glue removing products . check with your local paint and wallpaper store. Will still need to sand and Prime.

We used this to remove the glue from our wallpapered walls: https://www.aratariathome.com/blog/sun-room-paint-reveal
I used to do wallpaper removal, and I would saturate the glue and use a scraper to get most of it off..... and then use my sander to remove the last of it. Then 2 coats of good primer, and it should be smooth and bump free.
Wash them and get a drywall sander from ABC rental. Your walls will turn out super smooth. We did this to remove Venetian faux plaster all over the walls. I have a post coming out about it.

You will have to sand the walls until they are smooth to keep any of the residue from showing through.

Hi Lisa, try this method to remove the residue,

Clean with TSP and rough microfiber cloth. Prime with Bullseye 1-2-3 and then use a good paint with primer in it. Two coats. This should help to minimize it. However, your issue may be old drywall. My hallway has never been wallpapered, nothing but paint, built in the late 1950's and it has a slightly rough texture to it.
Skim coat the walls with putty so there smooth then sand that wil make them smooth
You can also use a texture hiding wallpaper and then paint.
I'd sand again, use a more coarse sand paper
Sounds like you need to sand off that wall paper glue residue before you can start painting on a smooth surface. I'd try an electric sander if what you've tried so far has not worked. Otherwise those bumps will be there forever!
Thank you to everyone for your suggestions! Sanding and a special primer did the trick! Greatly appreciated!
If you need to remove the glue I have just the article for you.

I would skim coat the walls and start over.
Lisa, so glad you got your problem resolved!
