You could re-paint or maybe add some stencils. Some accent colors could be nice. Example: paint hand rail a color to match the door.
I would remove them, but if you're keeping them, repaint/stencil and run a string of lights along them.
Hi Angie, I would paint them green and then they would look like (and blend in a little) with grass if you are looking to conceal them a bit. If you want them to stand out, I love the ideas above about stencilling or painting them a bright colour. You could stencil them with a vine or flowers and that would look lovely.
What this looks like-objectively-at the curve where the young lady is standing is a square peg in a round hole. Could the boards be cut and reshaped for a better, less angular fit.
Since your question is about visual improvement, I would definitely remove the white boards and replace them (only if you need an edging) with a small edge border that doesn't stand out. From what I can see, your porch is lovely and nicely decorated---why take away from it using oversized white boards? Good luck!
Can you remove the white edging? Just have the mulch end at the sidewalk.
You could stain to look like rock or match your brick.
You can dry brush them with different color paints. Stencil them. Sponge paint them to look like brick or stone.
Thank you
Hello. I would suggest painting them green like your plants or the color of your homes bricks.
They are fairly distracting prrsently being bright white.
Thank you
I think it would be a great idea to stencil the wood pieces. You can do something to match the house and your personal style. Browse through some of the stencils on Amazon, they have a great selection.
To keep the soil in place, build a brick border that matches the bricks on your house.
you could paint it or you could buy vinyl clings to decorate by season - stickers will leave a mess if you want to remove them - you can decoupage it
Hi Angie, you can certainly paint them color that will compliment your house color, or match them to the grass color, you could decal them, or add another layer like grey block in front of the white edging just to liven it up a bit.

Depending on your budget..... I would off the white boards. Even reclaimed brick would look better.
can you provide some pictures ?
