What is an inexpensive and unique option to replace worn carpet?
I have two bedrooms that really need the carpet replaced. I'm thinking there is an out-of-the-box option that would be less expensive than traditional flooring. One room is my teen son's (athlete) room, and the other is my daughter's (likes modern style) room. Thanks!

If you have a decent subfloor, that could be sanded and painted or stained and sealed. Another option is to visit your local Habitat ReStore for flooring. They have great prices!
You can purchase carpet tile online. Big squares you place and press. My neighbor painted her floor like a quilt just using masking tape to paint the squares. For son's room how about a team logo in the shape of a rug and a throw rug beside the bed.
Hi Sammie, if you're into inexpensive DIY, here's an option for you.......Brown paper flooring. You pull up the carpet and pad, remove the tackless strips from around the perimeter, and replace with paper. It could be a fun family project!

Sheet vinyl is probably the least expensive and easiest thing to put down. You can probably just clean the sub flooring and lay it down.
Hi Samme, depending on what is under the carpet you could always pull it up and use the floor beneath it. You could paint the wood or cover it. It would depend on how old your house is though and what is underneath.
Vinyl tiles are easy to lay yourself and come in a ton of different options these days too.
You can throw a couple of area rugs over the carpeting. ...it can look chic!

Carpet stores have remnants carpet pieces of all sizes, I redid several rooms very inexpensively with wall to wall carpet left over from their huge rolls.
