Buffalo Plaid Christmas Tree
Who loves the homey look of buffalo plaid Christmas decor? I know we do, that's why we're sprucing up our home with a bunch of these buffalo plaid Christmas trees. They're really easy to make with just a few materials.
Isn't it just beautiful? You could make smaller ones, or larger ones, depending on your home and where you'd like to put them.
The materials you need are really basic.
Material list:
- 12” Foam Cone
- Taper Candlestick Holder
- 2.5” Buffalo Plaid Wire Edge Ribbon
- White Chalk Paint
- Foam Paint Brush
- Sanding Block
- Hot Glue
- Optional ornament of choice to top your tree
Directions:
Cut 30 pieces of ribbon measuring 4” long.
Fold each piece of ribbon in half and secure with a dot of hot glue.
Start at the bottom of the cone by adhering a piece of the folded ribbon with hot glue, making sure the folded part extends slightly beyond the bottom of the cone.
Keep going until you reach the top of the cone. Make sure to leave at least 1/2 inch hanging over top of the cone.
You can do this before hand, actually it's probably a good idea so your paint will be dry when you get to the next step. :)
It took us 3 coats to get the candlestick holder completely covered in paint.
Now distress the edges with a sanding block or piece of sandpaper.
Glue the bottom of the tree to the candlestick holder.
We chose to add a star to the top of our tree by gluing and poking it into the foam.
You can use ribbon, a bow, an angel, or whatever tree topper you would like!
Display your buffalo plaid Christmas tree anywhere you'd like!

It's all a matter of what style you want the finished project to be . . . the weathered white base is perfect with the black and white ribbon. The genius is using the candlestick as the base with a foam cone! The options are many . . . greenery attached to the cone with a brown base, a metallic painted base with a tinsel wrapped tree, etc.

If you use. Wired ribbon you could fluff the pieces and make the tree a little fuller
