Suggestions for simple baseboard trim?
I have a very bad knee and struggle to keep the baseboard in my house clean. There are essentially 2 surfaces to the baseboard that collects dust. I am looking for a simpler baseboard. There are vinyl ones that look like they don't require much cleaning - any suggestions?

Hi there, vinyl would be a good option over wood so there will be no "lip" to collect dust. You can purchase rolls of it. Its generally used in bathrooms but can be used throughout the house to replace wood baseboard that collects dust. Its very thin and you can just tack it up with small nails - and then you could just wipe it down like any other flat wall surface.
Hi Teresa, Yes, there are some great options out there now. If you stop at your local home improvement store you will find a huge variety of baseboards that have no lips or bumps to them so that they will not collect dust as quickly.
While you can replace them with a simpler design, it could be a sizable expense. Have you considered buying something to clean them with that doesn't require bending or getting on your knees? Here's one to consider:

Hi Teresa, what you need is a base board that has NO shape or design on it, I have some in my house, just a plain flat baseboard that you can run a swiffer over without bending, you could even use the soft fluffy vacuum attachment to dust just the top of them, I have posted a picture for you to see, they are the easiest to keep clean, you can get them at any home store, hope this helps you out. I put a men's wallet beside in one picture to show the height for you
I have vinyl in my bathroom, not much difference in the amount of dust it collects. A simple design like teardrop is easier than a more complex one.
Try purchasing a microfiber duster to clean them. I have one that does a great job, it's static charged, and on a long pole so you don't have to even bend over. I also suffer with a bad knee so I try to avoid getting down on it as much as possible. You can then rub with dryer sheets. The dryer sheets will help to repel the dust.
Hi Teresa! Look for a baseboard that doesn't have any small indents or edges - dust gets really stuck in tiny grooves. Something smooth will be easiest to clean.
Hi Teresa, I hope this isn't too off base; but have you considered finding a better way to clean your current baseboard rather than investing in new ones? If you'd rather spend your $ on something else to make your home comfy, here's some info about an easy way to clean the baseboards you have. Something to consider......

For keeping the trim clean use a dryer sheet.
All baseboards will collect dust- I use a dust mop that I spray a small amt of water on then just dust over the base boards. Even vinyl baseboards get dusty
I installed this in my dad's bathroom but it could work anywhere:
This type of synthetic baseboard trim is water resistant and termite resistant and perfect for use in utility rooms, basements, outdoors/exteriors or any space where moisture is an issue. Vinyl trim comes in rolls and is held in place with industrial strength glue.
Hello. I’m not sure this is helpful but I wonder if total removal of the baseboard could be an option it just painting a white decorative line....a faux baseboard?
Baseboards are always going to get dirty. You might try a microfiber duster on a pole to help you reach easier. That would be less expensive than replacing all your baseboard.
I wonder if a sponge on a stick that you could use to clean while standing up would work. Or some kind of swiffer?

Buy a long handled mop. spread cleaner on it and away you go.
