Hi Mary, if your table is real wood, you can put a dollop of mayonnaise on top of the stain and let it sit for a few hours. Wipe it off with a clean rag and buff.

Try a little mayonnaise. Rub it in gently with a soft cloth.
Olive oil works too, but be sure to wipe the excess off.
If the top of the table is laminate, it may not be possible to remove the stain as easily as if it were solid wood.

If mayo does not work you will need to sand the surface down and re stain and seal it.
