How to take up plywood floor in a shed?

Is this doable for someone with little experience? I'd like to insulate the floor, shed too close to ground to get underneath. Thanks

Hi Donna, yeah that's definitely doable for just about anyone. I would have a couple of hammer, a crow bar and a pick ax on hand to tackle it. Taking up plywood is generally not fun lol just be careful as you pull it up!

Has the shed been built with proper supports underneath the floor, and is the floor level?
Also, I am wondering what the goal is in insulating the floor of the shed - how are you hoping to use the shed afterwards, or what is going to be stored inside?
Are you planning to insulate the walls and ceiling of the shed as well?
If the shed is directly on the ground with no gaps then it is doable. If it slightly elevated it can't be done. The walls are actually attached to the floor. You would need to cut the floor along the perimeter then remove the floor with a pry bar. Insulate the joists and replace the plywood. It is a lot of work. Instead of removing the plywood insulate on top of it. You can use foam board insulation on top of the existing floor and plywood on top. It will slightly raise the floor but it's minimal and a lot of less work.

Is it screwed in? I'd look for screws to pull up.
Hello. In our experience it can be done as a homeowner diy. At a previous residence we had a rotten shed floor and exterior walls and we completely renovated it. Pry bars can help with nails or unscrewed with cordless drill if attached that way. Rotten wood removed and discarded. New pressure treated wood replaced.
You could insulate with some ridgid foam on top of the plywood and then just install new plywood on top of the foam....
