How to remove weird layer of i don't know off my window ?

this doesn't necessarily apply to home windows. I have this weird layer of film on the inside of my windshield. When I try to clean it the newer dirt comes off but that film stays and makes it almost impossible to remove other dirt and oils and film.

    Step 1

Mix one cup of white vinegar with an equal amount of water in a clean spray bottle. This is a glass-cleaning recipe suggested by Vinegar cuts through dirt and oily residue that many other cleaners won’t, and it is safer to use than ammonia.

    Step 2

Place towels over your dashboard to protect it from drips. Shake the spray bottle to mix the vinegar and water.

    Step 3

Put on safety goggles so spray does not get in your eyes. Spray the interior of the windshield liberally with the vinegar-water mixture.

    Step 4

Wipe the windshield with clean, dry microfiber cloths. Switch to the clean side, or to a new cloth, whenever one side gets soiled.

Spray the windshield again, if necessary. Dry it with dry microfiber cloths. Repeat this cleaning any time the windshield looks hazy.

Use straight white cleaning vinegar applied on a microfiber cloth or cut it 50/50 with water if the area is tight (for fumes).

  • Try washing it with dawn soap to cut the grease or whatever it is, then finish with windex to get rid of residue from the dawn

Try the eCloth window cleaning rags. They are the BEST window cleaners I've ever used and its just the microfiber and water that makes them crystal clear. Check it out here:

The film is off gassing of the plastic the dash is made from. A 50/50 mix of vinegar and hot water should get it off. I also had good luck with windshield washer fluid

You might want to ask the manufacturer of your car, as the coating may be added for safety purposes in case the windshield shatters to hold the millions of pieces of tempered glass from flying in your face.
