Hello Carol,
Use Fabric or Paper and Mod Podge on top of existing material. Layer it up to suit shape. Let it dry and then trim as your taste. Hope that helps.

Starting at the seam or edge of the lampshade, apply Mod Podge Gloss all over with a paint brush. ... Fold over the remaining edges of fabric on the top and bottom of the lampshade and glue in place on the inside. Allow the glue to dry completely before replacing

Mod Podge is the goo you’ll need to complete this. Use fabric or paper and a coating of the glue. When it’s dry, you can coat over it again with more to seal it.

Hello. If my if it were my project I would put Modpodge on the shade and mist the fabric or paper slightly with water and apply them together. Carefully folding in the edges and trimming as necessary. Sometimes a binding or decorative trim is attached on the edges.
Hi Carole, you can use mode podge to decoupage images onto your lampshade. To get the most light I would use images that have been printed on some kind of translucent paper or even napkins. The decoupage lampshade can then be trimmed around the top and bottom with a pretty ribbon or fabric to neaten it up.
