How well peppermint oil might temporarily repel unwanted rodents and insects is yet to be proven. If you do want to try it, remember that it must continually be reapplied/sprayed as soon as the scent dissipates.
Also keep in mind that essential peppermint oil can get pricey. I just checked on Amazon, and the prices varied according to concentration, but they averaged $25 and up for a 16 oz bottle.

Eliminate their food source too. Usually they’re eating grubs in the yard, so I’d treat the yard for grubs.
