Turn an Old Crib Into the Perfect Garden Spot
Don't throw out the old crib until you see what can be done with the side. If you have a small space or balcony or just want to lift your garden to new heights, check out this fun upcycle.
I have had this old crib side for quite some time since someone passed it along. I have been redoing one of my balconies and this turned out to be the perfect solution I had been wanting for my plants.

The crib side wasn't quite long enough so I grab some scrap wood and added little extensions with wood glue. The duct tape was used to hold them in place until the glue dried.
Once the wood glue was fully dry and the additional legs were held in place, I painted the entire crib side and legs using Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Country Grey and finished it with a water-based topcoat.
To create the pots for my new plant rack, I grabbed some old yogurt containers and drilled some drainage holes in the bottom.
With the holes added, each plastic container was painted with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Aubusson Blue and then given a topcoat with a water-based polycrylic.
To attach the containers to the new plant stand, I added some thick jute twine around each container. Be sure to leave enough at the ends to tie to the pot to the crib.
I love my new hanging garden. It is the perfect way to add plants to my balcony without taking up space. There is lots of room to add more as well.
