Put a kitchen magnet on it. If it sticks it is a ferrous material. If it doesn’t stick then it could be bronze, or aluminum, or something else. You might try metal polish on a hidden part of it to see if it has a bronze coating.
I agree - try the magnet.
Iron will attract a magnet and hold it, bronze will not.
here is info for you

Place a magnet on the lamp, if it holds it is iron, if it holds slightly, the lamp is likely brass. Copper and bronze will not hold the magnet.
One way to tell if an item is real bronze is to first find a discreet part where it will not be noticed. Scratch the area slightly. It should look like brass after you scratch it. However, if it is poor man’s bronze, it will look silver. Authentic bronze is composed of copper and a small amount of tin. Fake bronze is created using cast iron and zinc.
Another method would be to take a magnet and see if it attaches to the piece. If it does, then the item is made with cast iron, not bronze.
Yes, I totally agree! You can use magnet for checking.
Hi there, use a magnet. If it sticks it's iron, if it falls off, it's bronze.
I need to see pictures
rub some vinegar on it. Vinegar cleans bronze. If you can get the color to lighten from cleaning it, and you see a bright bronze color, then you know it's bronze. Otherwise, its iron. You could also scrap it in an inconspicuous place and smell it to see if it smells like iron.
Hello, If it is not heavy, it could possibly be Spelter!
It's a very unique piece. I would take it to a local antique shop and inquire or take a photo and do a reverse google image search. If you can identify the manufacturer or brand, you'll know what it's made of...generally!! Good luck.
Magnet will help you detect it
