Reclaimed Wood Plank Wall

We dug stacks of 9" tongue and groove planking out of the garage attic of a foreclosed property, paying only $10 for all of it. At the time, we had no idea what we were going to use it for but we sure are glad we got it!
Recently, we started a small room makeover for our children's shared bedroom.
Our kids' room felt dark and cold. We wanted to lighten up the paint color and add additional lighting for them. That wall behind their beds was particularly dark because there wasn't a way to add any lamps for extra light.
This is the dusty, dirty stack of wood we drug home in our mini-van.
Our plan was to add planking to the wall, so to do that we started by putting thin strips of plywood on the studs.
Each piece of planking was nailed to the vertical strips. We wished we could have left the wood in its natural state as the color was beautiful, but we really needed this back wall to be light and bright so the room wouldn't feel so dark.
The wall got one coat of primer and then three coats of Benjamin Moore White Dove in a semi-gloss finish.
We found these $5 mason jar sconces at Home Depot and spray painted them silver and put a coat of brown glaze over the silver paint to make them look more aged.
The room is so much brighter now! Follow along with the rest of the bedroom makeover on our Facebook page
