This is my living room right off my dining and kitchen area. It is the one room in the house that has never been decorated for long because I can't find what I like for it. We put in new carpet in Oct, built mantle for fireplace ( yes its large but it holds what we need it to so keeping that) I would rather not paint the room but looking for suggestions if anyone has any on color for walls, pillows, drapes etc. My kitchen is a green if that helps. I love a cozy warm look and feel, something that is inviting. Yet leaning towards something with maybe some pops of color. Pics maybe? As far as layout want to keep the couch where it is,
I am also thinking of adding board and batten in here as well, didnt know how it would look with my vaulted ceilings?

Jeanette S on Dec 25, 2012Rebecca, By all means get a darker rug with a lot of different colors like the one Goose Grove used so you will have a variety of colors to pick from out of the rug. It looks like the green in your kitchen is mellow, so pick a burgundy wine color for pillows and accents. I am attaching a couple of photos of my living room...with mess from gift opening yesterday and moved furniture...but you get the idea. I added a little here and a little there all in the same family of green and wine red. The walls are a light gold.

Goose Grove on Dec 29, 2012Thanks Rebecca- that's my place. The rug is from ShopNBC. The painting is where I pull my colors from. Don't be afraid of colors. My couch & tables are black with beige walls- but there's punches of yellow, red & green. If you change (color) your valance, lamp shades & add a rug- the room will look totally different. The wall by your window needs a collection of something- maybe colorful plates. Good Luck!
