Farmhouse renovation complete!

I loved this house as soon as I saw it. Abutting a plant nursery, a converted barn- now a house- and tennis courts across the street.
The location was great but to quote my painter friend, "this house is sad."
Years of burning wood fires had left every surface dingy, dark and oily with soot. I wanted to make it warm, airy and cozy using creams, yellows, grays, whites with a few bright accents.

Looks fabulous! Inspiring me to get goin with the paint! Did you restain the kitchen floor to a darker color?

The kitchen floor was a pre-finished white oak and was that light yellow color. It looked very prefab next to the fir floors everywhere else so I opted to stain it a dark gray. My house has quarter sawn white oak stained driftwood gray and they hide dust and scratches beautifully. This gray is a combo of black and white stain, 4 coats, and I believe as it wears out should look really nice.
