Easter Mason Jar Toppers DIY
Mason jars are here to stay in crafting. For Easter, how about making toppers for those plain and topless jars you're loving to create. There are so many colorful mason jars available and most don't have tops. I thought it easy to make decorative Easter toppers that slip right over the opening or existing metal lids using paper backed burlap fabric. I love this material! It's available at JoAnn's in 24" x
I found mason jars in my favorite color purple . . . and used the mouth to make a circle and side strip template on the burlap.
Using tacky glue on both edges to wrap the strip around the circle. Add additional glue inside for stability and allow to dry.
While topper is drying, cut out pieces of bunny from the template provided and hand stitch right sides together, leaving openings to turn inside out. Lightly stuff with poly-fil.
Starting with the head, after stuffing, sew on seed beads for eyes, add a pom.pom for nose, and wire stems for whiskers. Pipe cleaners were inserted into the ears and sewn on top. The paws were decorated with fabric for sleeves and thread used to loop around the end for toes. The completed paws were hot glued on the topper and then the head was glued down between. And finally, handmade flower embellishments were added to the burlap topper.
Just think of all the possibilities of how you can decorate these burlap mason jar toppers.
