Our little laundry & utility room was functional, but it wasn't as functional as it COULD be. I wanted to make it a pretty space with more storage. With a small budget and a lot of elbow grease, my husband and I transformed our laundry room into a vintage-inspired red & aqua retreat!
Here's how it looked before.
My favourite part is this giant pegboard we made. It measures 6 feet wide by 8 feet tall. My husband installed it and framed it, and I caulked and painted it.
I used wire baskets and hanging laundry bags I found on Amazon to hang on the giant pegboard, and I also hung my ironing board, some art and a drying rack. The wall functions so well and it looks pretty too!
Some DIY cafe curtains and a vintage washboard add some interest to the room.
This cherry red washer and dryer were the inspiration for the red and aqua / mint colour scheme. Some wire bins I found at Walmart fit the shelf in between the machines perfectly. The countertop was made from an extra door we had.
I hung buckets on the pegboard for collecting things found in pockets.
We are SO happy with our newly organized laundry room. It makes me want to do MORE laundry... well, almost.

Wait!! Did I miss the instructions on how the door was repurposed for the space on top of the washing machine and dryer? Is it mounted down??
How has the laundry bags held up?? I love the idea. But my husband and kiddo stuff gets dirty and they both don’t understand how to be general yet
I also was wondering how you hung the laundry bags. I like your ideas. Very creative, awesome.
