What do you use on block windows in a bathroom?

Txstout on May 25, 2015On a recent trip to Home Depot, I saw some self stick window film with designs on it. It resembled stained glass. There were many designs to choose from. It's opaque so it lets light in but you cannot "see through it". You can cut it to fit the size of your windows, or blocks. It was near the window blinds section.Helpful Reply

Carol Claremont on May 25, 2015My suggestion is similar - they even have some that you can see out the window but it is reflective on the other side so people can't see in - also at Home Depot.Helpful Reply

Charlie on May 26, 2015There is a something called alcohol ink. You get it at craft stores and it comes in small bottles. I saw this used on small glass egg ornaments for easter, but the technique would work the same for your windows. Turns out beautiful! I found it here on home talk. Type into the search "Stained Glass Easter Eggs using Alcohol Ink" and it should come up. If it doesn't type the search into google. This gives a beautiful stained glass appearance that will give you privacy but will also let in lots of light. I hope this has been of some help.Helpful Reply

B. Enne on Jun 29, 2015I have translucent contact paper. It can be removed. It is vinyl like the cling film but with an adhesive. Cling film can let go, bubble or come loose at the corners in humid areas.Helpful Reply

B. Enne on Jun 29, 2015It is like this: http://www.lowes.com/pd_401502-45825-T346-0166___?productId=3687606&pl=1&Ntt=adhesive+window+film I actually still have this pattern on my basement window, because it was about the only thing available back then LOL (20 + years ago) I just left it.When I bought my 30+ year cottage it had the same thing...so it holds up and cleans well. I replaced it with a more rain pattern look. The other patterns if you scroll down are static films NOT ADHESIVE...Different stores may have more choices and brands. The sizes are indicated. I never had to add extra pieces with this type of film, since the basement has small casement windows, and the bathrom a small slider. There may be bigger sizes available elsewhere. If I may make a suggestion though. I have had to add extra pieces on another window with the cling film. I found it looked better not to butt seams, but to leave an open stripe in a part where privacy wasn't as crucial. That way it looked like it was part of the design, rather than a botched job. If you choose a pattern with a linear or grid pattern, you probably could butt seams. Have fun!Helpful Reply
