Sun Loving Container Garden

I was working on our front porch and trying to get it "beautified" for the spring with some plants. I had some old flower pots made of composite material that had been hanging around here for years. They were in rough condition and really had toyed with just throwing them out. But I had a can of black chalkboard paint sitting in the garage and decided to try a coat on them as a last ditch effort to salvage them. I didn't get a before picture because I really thought the garbage man was going to get them.
This after two coats of the black paint and I was beginning to see new life in them. Somehow they didn't look as bad as they had previously. So I let them sit for a couple of days and then I decided maybe I could add a little more to them.
I decided to use a very dry brush of a light grey paint and went over it lightly to come up with this aged look. I love how it makes the carvings stand out so well.
I then planted them with sun loving plants for our very sunny front porch. I used a corkscrew rush, a geranium and some English Ivy. I love to mix textures, foliage colors and shapes in the same pot for interest. These will fill out quite nicely and be a real focus point on our porch that will last all summer.

I don't know if it was intentional, but your paint finish looks exactly like worn denim. Makes you relax just at the sight of it!
