As I was pondering material to use below an already installed chair rail in
the bath, cedar shims came to mind. Asked how I came up with that, I have no idea, except spotted at Home Depot. Most importantly, CHEAP! Less than $30 including liquid nail adhesive. Easy installation, as you can see in picture, only a few nails and utility knife. Stagger the shims: skinny side, fat side over lapping each. I love the 3 dimensional look. You can do this, have fun. I finished the top with a new coat of paint. That's all there was to this project. Easy peasy.
Did not get a before picture. Just plain.
Two walls finished.
Choosing paint color.
This is the last wall. No baseboard or chair rail was removed. I needed a cushion to sit on !!
Finished with new paint. Hope you like it.
