Coralcotta Ornate Dresser Makeover
When I find one of these ornate pieces while thrifting it makes me giddy.
In It’s current state it is dark and heavy but I know what it can be!
She ugly but…she has potential!
For this piece I used these products pictured. The two colors on the left, the coral and cream and mixed them to get a warmer coralcotta color (that’s what’s in the jar)
I used my Cling On brush and a water bottle too.
A lot of these items are linked in my bio on my Instagram.
After removing the hardware and cleaning it I scuff sanded it to give it some
tooth.
I then applied my chalk paint color I custom mixed, the color I dubbed coralcotta. This took three coats for good coverage. I also hand sand in between coats for a smooth buttery finish.
I decided once it was painted the little inserts of the drawers would be nice in a subtle lighter color.
Using my mister water bottle I sprayed the insert then used the cream paint and then took the orange color around the outside and blended it towards the middle.
Its a tone on tone look that gives it just that extra touch. And I’m always extra.
Here I am blending the colors together
Once painted I used Wise Owl salve to seal the paint and sprayed the hardware Rustoleum metallic gold.
She cleaned up really pretty and sold very quickly!
Do you have the vision to take an ugly duckling and turn it into a swan?

A beautiful job refinishing this gorgeous piece of furniture. Definitely deserves a page in a home decorating magazine. A job well done and one to be proud of.

Have a question about this project?
Do you paint the back side of the piece? I have a taller chest with a front very much like this, and have been wanting to paint it. The back side is heavy cardboard, I think, and perhaps the paint will seal it. I love your technique!
