My girlfriend wears them and has a collection that belongs in the Smithsonian. She uses embroidery floss boxes and displays hers on a pegboard painted to match her closet, then ran pretty ribbons through some of the holes banner style and clips them to the ribbon.
Here is a cute, cheap and quick idea.
I like the wire idea. Did you see my notice board? That would work also. Or how about fixing small dowels across a box frame without the glass. These can be cut to size then glued.
Hobby Lobby sells cute little "trees" in their jewelry making area that you can either clip earrings on or put pierced earrings on them. This is if you want to sit the display on your dresser or vanity. I love the wire ideas shown here too!
Using plastic canvas... cut 3/4 to 1 inch strips along the length of the plastic canvas sheet.... staple the strips into a pretty picture frame (a wood one works best).... cover the back cardboard in a pretty paper or fabric... then hang the frame on the inside of the closet door, or in your dressing or bath room... use it as art work .
This morning it occurred to me that a louvered shutter would make a good way to store and or display clip earrings... especially if the louvers were the movable ones... stain it, paint it... and there you are.
