Anyone have any good ideas what color I should paint my bedroom walls?

Its been 17 years since this room has been painted. The boyfriend loves white, which I hate, it shows stains faster than any color out there.

Have you considered the compromise of doing an accent wall in a bold color that will match or compliment the color scheme of the room and then doing the other three walls in a neutral color - perhaps eggshell or off white? I've done it in many rooms in my house and always get compliments. It can reallly turn a non-descript room into an eye-popper!

I see a bit of aqua in the pillows - perhaps an aqua color on the wall the bed is against? Then brighten and bring the rest of the room together with aqua accents - aqua scatter rugs, a floral arrangement with aqua being the main color with neutral colors to bring the room together, aqua vases, etc....?

A really bold blue on the wall behind the bed with white on the other walls. Then you can pick up the blue with accent pillows and your lampshades.

I love the color of your bedding. I would use the bedding as inspiration for the wall color. Grey with satin white trim and then paint the furniture white with accents of grey to tie it all together. If you are able to, make an extra large tufted headboard that will fit beautifully in between the sconce lighting that you have.

Since you don't use a headboard, painting the wall behind the bed an accent color (blue, turquoise, emerald) might be a fun touch. You could use a light shade of gray on the other walls as a compromise with the BF.

I'm never a fan of an accent wall-I just don't get it! It breaks up the space, making the room appear smaller and the ceiling lower. I agree with Nola, who suggests a pale aqua, but I would like it on all four walls. Take a pillow to the paint store and do your best to find a matching color, and then pick a paint that is a few shades lighter. Your boyfriend would never be happy with an intense or deep color.

I would take one of the pillows for the bedspread to the paint store and have it matched...or pick a color from the color chart a little lighter. Then add some red accents to the room!

Benjamin Moore Palladian Blue, It changes with the light of the day, subtle, calming and gender neutral. Purchase a fan deck at Ben Moore for about $25. Pick three or four that you think you might like. Purchase sample pots, paint them on your wall. Wait two days so you can see them in all kinds of lights and then decide. This is a bit of an investment in time and money, but I have come to find it well worth it in the end.

for the walls, i would go for a mint or maybe aqua. or if you prefer, try a coral. my walls in my room are coral and grey, and it looks beautiful together! whatever color you use for the walls, should be also used in accents across the room. have fun! :D

Are you keeping the bed set?? I'd go with a whole different bed set, something with lot's of color.....Pick one of the colors in the bed set, paint the walls a matching color... 
 If you are keeping this bed set, I'd go with some black, white, and turquoise pillows...add spots of those colors around the room....Take the plastic off the shades, paint them turquoise...add a white furry rug under the bottom legs of the bed, so that it hangs out, at an angle...Make a headboard......so many things to do....I'd also paint the furniture black, or white if you don't like black....Also hang your curtain high and go to the floor....Tricks the eye into thinking it is a tall window....

I would paint all four walls the grey in the bedspread. Then trim all trim in satin white. I would also purchase a bunch of diff size and shaped picture frames. Remove glass and back, using the empty frame and do a collage on the back wall of bed. putting it half way between top of bed and ceiling, making it appear as headboard.

You won't revet buying a fan deck and painting samples of your walls. I formally did it the other way , you know going to the store and picking out a paint I liked, I ended up never satisfied. Once I started painting samples on my walls, I have not been sorry, but have been very surprised at what paint I actually ended up with. GOOD luck, HAVE fun and LET us know what you end up with.

Aqua is a lovely shade......That would be great..... 
 When I remodel a room I like to go with at least 3 maybe 4 colors.....and yes you can add 2 or more different patterns if they stay in the same color pallet.... 
 Your room would be nice in the Aqua, black, white, and gray, colors.......like above...

Love the many suggestions of soft aqua for the walls, but keep it very pale. Also, are you planning to get a headboard for your bed? Really, a beautiful tall headboard totally makes the focal point of a bedroom and gives a feeling of height in a room. You can use a fabric headboard in a nice gray which will look awesome against the aqua blue walls and your bedding with some added blue pillows!

I love the coral or aqua but I think since it is for the both of you I would go for the pale gray or blue tones. My husband and I made a deal not to frou frou the master bedroom. Since I get my way in most of the house our master bedroom is simple but elegant. I think I would have country french white & violet and chandeliers if left on my own lol.

I agree... a headboard would probably make a big difference too, I made one out of lattice  and wrapped molding around it, then another one out of hollow core door with trim around it...the hollow core door was $15 plus the trim, and the paint I already had on hand.  I have a picture in my HT profile. I like the comforter, I would paint the  side tables a deep grey too.

I would use a beautiful butter cream yellow.  It always brightens a room without overpowering, plus it looks great with gray.  A few throw pillows in the same color paint would really tie everything together.  Good luck.

A bedroom is a place for rest and relaxation! You wouldn't want to really put any colors in there that are going to keep you awake or the eye wondering! I would choose a green(olive, slate, country green, etc.) or a blue(I bought Valspar Jekyll Veranda Blue to redo an old antique cabinet in) anything that has the grey hue's so that your comforter will pull the grey tint from the paint. Or Grey is the new Beige, so to speak, you could paint it grey(a different tone of course) and use pops of color and if you ever get tired of your comforter you can just switch with any color and it will match! You should always accessorize with color b/c those can be changed out! Also I would do a headboard and there are so many options to choose from! you could hang a curtain rod behind your bed and hang pillows from it, quilts, you could actually paint a headboard on the wall, go on pintrest and search headboards (the new thing right now is pallet headboards) Just depends what you like. Please post your finished product .....we all would love to see!
