Depending on the shape and design of the headboard, you many be able to cut it in half, then add a piece to the centre to widen it. Please post a picture of your headboard so that we can see what you have to work with.
Hi Debra, perhaps this Queen to King tutorial will give you some ideas you can use - https://www.ehow.com/how_12109179_turning-queen-headboard-king.html
The difference between the widths is 16" that you have to make up for. One possibility is to put posts on the outside of the queen headboards. Here are instructions:

It might be possible - can you share a photo so we can better give you ideas?
Hello. Could you possibly add a photo to give us more information about the style and structure of your headboard? Adding some framing to the side post could be an option depending upon the design and style.
You are looking at a 16" difference in width. Your best bet may be to attach the headboard to the wall and center the bed beneath it. Then add a wall sconce or other decor on each side.
My first thought is to add a piece to each side. Without seeing it though, it's difficult to say if this will actually work. Do you have a picture?

I would get 2 pieces of wood stain them to match, and attach on each side. 4 in. x 4 in. x 4-1/2 ft. Pressure-Treated Wood Double V-Groove Deck Post would do the trick Or large spindles
