Covered patio
How to put on a 20 x30 treated wood cover with lattice and heavy duty screen to let air in on the outside. I do have pavers on the ground looking for a cover for outdoors affairs.
Thank you

I agree with Ken, a picture would be very valuable in helping you so we can see what you are starting with. You can of course read books and magazines specifically for what you are trying to do, you might get some ideas there. A thought would be to have contractors come over and pick their brains for ideas, get free estimates and suggestions.
Set posts in concrete or use post holders for the frame. The affix the lattice to the posts. Going with a rather simple structure would be the best route.
The question is kind of misleading. People think you already HAVE it up and want to decorate it. I am taking the question as you want to build it. If that is correct you are taking on a pretty intense project if you don't know how. It would involve digging and putting in footers for 4x4 posts attaching supports for the roofing, putting in screening or building frames to attach screening. If you are not into all of that look for a sun sail.
Hello! Once you have your basic construction in place I would suggest using the screen tight system.
We had ours installed in 2015 -with remodel and addition- to our surprise it’s a wonderful system.
It consists of the regular fiberglass mesh screening stuffed into an edge frame sealed with rope like stretchy spline and has a plastic snaps on Tupperware type sealing strip to cover your raw edge.
We diy repaired a huge panel after a dog excitement accident. It was pretty easy to work with. We just bought replacement screen + tub of the spline and a hand spline tool and the job was completed without much effort. I would say its diy friendly....at least the repair was. It was far easier than a more old-school staple screen and cover with it with wood —system that we had a prior residence.

Hi! Any type of fixed structure will need a permit. Even previously non enforcement areas have tightened up zoning and permits due to safety and other considerations. The simplest structure would be a pergola type structure that doesn't attach to your house. There are manufactured ones that are attractive and easy to setup, if it's in the budget. The simpler the structure, the easier to build safely and maintain. Stay safe!
Amazon sells canvas tarps in different shapes and sizes. If stretched this would provide shelter from the rain. But if you want to let the rain in they also sell shade cloth in various sizes and degrees of shade provided.
You would need some type of support system to put the cover on the patio- here is a video to help you out

Hello Dimpless, how about building a pergola, and screening it in yourself? You can put a fiber glass or metal roof on it.

Hi Dimpless. I would get a couple estimates from contractors. At the very least, they will be able to tell you code requirements and info on permits, etc. Good luck Dimpless.
I would strongly recommend using the new vinyl latice. Comes in several colors. I used Cedar.. Real latice deteriorates quickly.
Building a patio cover 20x30 will be a difficult project if you do not have any previous construction experience, or do not have all the requisite tools to build it properly, simply due to its large size.
If the structure made from the wooden cover and the screens is permanently attached to the roof or walls of the house, it may be considered an extension or addition to the main house.
I would advise to check first with your home insurance carrier to see by how much the premiums on your policy may be increased if you do decide to upgrade your patio in this way.
It's not attached to my house. I laid down some pavers in my backyard and I wanted a cover over the pavers in case of rain.
I was just trying to do something as a family outside get together.
Yes.
Here's what some other Hometalkers have done.
While not all these pergolas are rain proof, it can be a good place to start, browsing through others first to see what looks like it could be a diy project for you to attempt.
