Bathtub Woes
Hello. What can I do with the bottom of this tub. It's like the metal is showing. Would painting help? I need an inexpensive fix. Can any suggest a specific brand of paint for tubs?
Thanks for speedy response.

Rustoleum sells one that works great! Be sure to ventilate the area when working with their product.
Here's a link to deal with the rust:

After, you can buy a tub refinishing kit. Check in your local home improvement store.
Here's some info to try to get the rust removed, then you can buy a kit from a home improvement store to paint/resurace the tub. Rustoleum makes a good one!

Agreed I will also mention that Rustoleum makes a great tub and tile kit with everything you need including step by step instructions - good luck!
Definitely you would need to remove all the rust and feather sand the finish smooth. Then you can paint the tub with a tub and tile kit. Proper prep is the key and can last 5 to 10 years.

Rustoleum makes a great rust remover. I would try that first. If not sand lightly and follow the directions on the Rustoleum bathtub kit. It works well. Open the windows when working with the kits.
I would also try some Iron Out on the stain, using multiple applications to see if it removes it. If that doesn't get it, then I would try CLR, again multiple applications.
Go to home depot and buy a bottle of CLR you put a. Thin towel or layer paper towels over the spot and pour on the paper towels so they stay wet let it sit over night it will take it off if it’s still there leave another 24 hours but get new paper towels put a couple of layers so it holds some. Liquid to soak the spot
These paints do NOT hold over time.
I suggest y'all buy a can of "Zud" or maybe its "ZUD"?
Scrub the bathtub with Zud and buy a nice shower curtain, even a mat for the tub-floor.
Keep that shower curtain closed until a new bathroom is in the budget.
Don't waste time and money on these paints they do NOT hold up over time.

It has rusted. You will to need to clean and sand. Then clean and use a kit like RustOleum Tub & Tile kit.
Try Lime Away and I think a lot of that stain will come off. Then it should be ready to paint. I believe Rustoleum makes bath tub paint, but check out Lowes. It's an easy job to paint, but you must wear a good respiratory mask & open any windows in the room because of fumes.
First I would try some CLR, full strength a couple times to see how much rust you can remove.
There are several tub repair kits available. Hers a Page that will help you out

You can definitely paint it, but it's a big job. I would investigate the repair kit recommended above and also consult your local paint pros. They'll recommend a brand and explain exactly how to use it. Also I would make sure you can paint over the repair patch if necessary.
your bath tub needs to be regalzed
You could try a tub repair kit and tub paint kit but be aware that those only last for so long before they wear away as well.
