Keep your carpets and rugs smelling fresh with this Homemade Natural Carpet Powder that os safe,non-toxic and effective!

PIN this now to save for later!

I recently bought a new rug for our front entryway. I love it so much and in my perfect world no one would ever step on it – rather, it would just be a beautiful display item to look at. But… unfortunately in real life it gets used and is stepped on with shoes (*insert skin crawl! I literally hate shoes in the house). Plus, it’s so plush and comfy our dogs love to lay on it. So in an effort to keep it clean, beautiful and smelling good I went on the hunt for a Natural Carpet Powder freshener recipe that was safe, non-toxic, easy to make and did not utilize essential oils (not to knock essential oils but the scents vary so much between brands and I’m really sensitive (aka picky) to smells). Fortunately I found the perfect recipe that met all of my stipulations and is super cost effective!

This Natural Carpet Powder utilizes baking soda, dried lavender and dried rosemary. I love the smell of fresh or dried lavender – just not in manufactured scent form, it gives me a headache 🙁 For years I’ve searched our local natural stores for dried lavender buds and have never been able to find them (the only place I’ve ever found them was in college in Toledo, OH). Fortunately for Amazon because I was able to purchase all of the ingredients there and they arrived in 2 days! I priced everything out and went with the most cost-effective ingredients and have included the links below.

Natural Carpet Powder Recipe:

1/2 cup baking soda

1/2 cup dried lavender buds

1/2 cup dried rosemary

powdered sugar shaker cup

food processor

Combine all ingredients in the food processor and blend together. Pour into your shaker dispenser.

Enjoy your fresh smelling carpet (and vacuum cleaner too!!)

Hi, I cannot find the links you mentioned. Just a link to your disclaimer.

How do you use this? Do you just sprinkle it on and let it sit awhile and then vacuum it up? I have never used a carpet powder before because they all made me sick but I am sure that is from the chemicals. I wouldn't mind to try something like this

Oh hey there fellow Rocket! I am pumped to try this since I have my own rosemary and lavender plants!
