Ink stain on my carpet

  • Put some rubbing alcohol on the stain and blot with a clean cloth. The color should transfer to the cloth.

you should use at least 90% alcohol the 50% isn't strong enough

Be careful using alcohol. My experience running a cleaners, where alcohol was often used to remove stains, can lock it in. Try peroxide and baking soda and saturate it. Leave it for about 2-3 minutes, then scrub it with a very small amount of clear dish detergent or shampoo, rinse and poof 💨 it should be gone. You may have to do it more than once, but it’s done wonders for me and my cleaning company. BE SURE TO TEST IN AN INCONSPICUOUS SPOT FIRST.

IF you cannot get it out, a professional carpet layer can take a piece of carpet out of your closet, from under your couch , or maybe you have a scrap laying around....and they can cut out that ink stain and install a new piece. We had that done when we spilled something and you cannot tell it has been patched....they did a very good job. We did have a closet with the carpet in it which they used.

I had some scrap carpet that I used for a scatter mat and they cut a piece out and you would never know there is a patch in the carpet.

Rubbing alcohol, WD40, or Dawn dish liquid in some warm water. The gel pen ink tends to be oily. One of these should work. Wet the stain. Blot from outside into the center so not to spread the stain. Paper towels would work. Change towel once dirty.

Get Folex! It is the most amazing stuff and will clean just about anything. Even old stains. I put it in my laundry and it even gets my grout clean. It’s like magic in a bottle and it’s not harsh chemicals. You will love it. I know Home Depot sells it and I’ve gotten it from Amazon as well.

Do what Krista says and go to Home Depot & get Folex!! It comes in a very non-descript white spray bottle or gallon jug with dark purple text. No need to mix or dilute, no weird chemical pollution smells. I discovered it years ago in college...many red wine spills on a very light carpet...works like a miracle. I have used it on ink on my dad's light tan carpet...the red ink AND the black ink had disappeared between the time I sprayed it, went to scrounge an old wash cloth and returned to soak up the excess. And guess what? No return "ghost" stains!

Use 1/4 cup of white vinegar, 1 tbsp. of Dawn dish soap, and fill with water. Spray area liberally and let soak for 5-10 minutes and then proceed with blotting with a clean, dry towel until stain is removed. Some carpet stain removal products can be of great benefit for combating many types of carpet stains.
