    Steps to Remove the Stain:

    1. Wear eye and hand protection when working with mineral spirits and make sure the area is well ventilated. Check the product label for other suggested safety precautions.
    2. Dampen the rag with the mineral spirits. Do not pour mineral spirits directly onto the laminate flooring. It may seep below the floor and cause moisture damage.
    3. Rub the rag over the spill. Switch the cleaning surface of the rag frequently so you don’t rub the stain back into the floor. If the cloth begins to dry or lose its cleaning effectiveness, re-wet it with more mineral spirits or switch to a clean rag.
    4. Once the stain is lifted, wipe the area with a clean cloth dampened with water. This should remove any remaining traces of the mineral spirits.

Be sure to properly dispose of all rags used in the cleaning process. The label will offer guidelines for hazardous waste material cleanup.

Tried it. The polyurethane has been on there for years. Acetone somewhat worked but had to keep doing it and removed coloring of flooring as well. Gotta be an easier way.

I clean for a living and have encountered a good many floors where the home owner used refinishing products that built up and created a haze or peeling effect from the poly in them. I've had a good deal of success with ammonia. It's strong but works. If the floor underneath the poly is sealed it should be just not fine to strip the top layer off with.

Thanks, I'll try ammoni. the poly was used on trim boards, dripped and went unnoticed till it was dry and dirt settled on it before it dried.

Thanks, tried it. Can't get a razor blade started, drips too flat.
