They may have become etched. If not, you can hand clean with blue Dawn and a Scrub Daddy.
For dishwasher, I always add a drop of blue Dawn first to my dishwasher detergent. It has made a world of difference for all my glass items. I also have clear glass plates and they are now clean and clear.
Vinegar or citric acid works well. If you can run through the dishwasher, add white vinegar to the wash and rinse cycles, about a cup to start. Or you could soak them in vinegar and water in your sink, minimum of 1/2 hour. Protect fragile stemware with a towel or mat-lined sink. You can also run through the dishwasher with food grade citric acid or Lemishine brand dishwasher booster. If you can find 1lb bags of citric acid in the canning aisle, hardware stores sometimes or Amazon, etc., it's less expensive. I add a little to every wash cycle. If your stemware has an etched pattern, I'd stick with the vinegar.
It may take more than one cycle if the film is heavy.
Hi Margo,
We have all clear dishes and we had that trouble on our clear dishes as well as our stemware. We found Lemishine works great when added to the regular dishwasher soap. It is an addition to the dishwasher soap and can be found where you buy dishsoap at Walmart. It is their brand. We add some to every load. Hope this helps Margo
I'm headed to Walmart to purchase Lemishine. Thanks for your experienced suggestions.
Don't wash in dishwasher - use w/up liuid and warm water only. then rinse.
