Wrap them in a white paper towel soaked in vinegar
CLR does a good job, however if they are really bad soak a rag in the CLR and wrap around faucet & handles. Give a final shine with rubbing alcohol on a soft cloth!

I just wipe mine down after every use, and realize this is not possible in a house with kids. Try wiping down every night before bed to reduce chance of build up.
