How to clean Barbecue stainless steel grill grates without chemicals?
My Barbecue make is Lion. It has stainless steel grill grates. We barbecue a lot. Grill grates are really dirty with sticky stuff, really hard to clean. We do not want to use chemical spray. We have soaked in hot water, vinegar and baking soda.
Anyone have any suggestions to clean these grates .
Any suggestions or ideas to get rid the sticky stuff from and clean the grill racks are greatly appreciated.

I soak my stove grates with 1/2 gal of ammonia. Put in large zip lock bag from the dollar store (yes they do have them) zip overnight preferably outside. Takes very little elbow grease the next morning.
Good luck.
Try soaking them overnight in a container with a few drops of Dawn dishwashing soap and dryer sheets.
You can also clean them with baking soda, vinegar and a wire brush: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TkQQnommNyA

Hi Perminder. In a garbage bag that's big enough to contain all the grates, mix together 2 cups of vinegar and 1 cup of baking soda. No chemicals. It will begin to froth right away. Remove the grates from your grill while they are cool to the touch. Place them in the bag for a couple hours or overnight. Next morning, rinse with clean water and allow them to dry. Good luck Perminder. I hope you are well.
Folks, please read the question in entirety before answering.

There is some good information here:

you can use a pressure washer on them or a steam cleaner as well - of course remove them from the grill first then let them dry before re-inserting

Some jobs just need that extra boost from chemicals. Oven cleaner works well.
baking soda!!!!
Hello Perminder, You simply wrap the grates with heavy duty aluminum foil, close the lid and crank up your grill to a high heat temperature (500 to 550°F) for approximately 15 minutes. The food and grease sticking on your grate will be burnt off and become brittle. Use a quality scraper or grill brush to remove the remaining carbon.
I'm sure you tried something like an SOS pad? The abrasive steel wool might take off the build up.
We use Young Living's Thieves cleaner on our grill
SOS pads really work great, first soak your grates.
I’d read the manual or contact the manufacturer for the best suggestions.
