I've had a formica countertop for over 20 years and I only clean it with soap and water. Occasionally, I use a bit of vinegar and water to remove spots with a soft rag, but that's it. Don't use anything with a scrub, because you can scratch it and it will leave marks and damage the surface.
Hi Kathy I agree with the vinegar and water solution but nothing stronger than that. Have you tried a magic eraser?
You can spray the water spots with a bit of undiluted white vinegar, let it sit for a few minutes, then wipe away the spots. Rinse with clear water cloth and dry.

Vinegar and water is what I would use too!
Wow! What quick responses! Thank you to all. I will buy some white vinegar today, and let you all know my results. Magic eraser worked on the spots, but left a residue. I need to clean entire counter, a large space. Thank you, tho.

I use 50/50 vinegar & water.
You need something that removes lime stains CLR
I recently used Rejuvenate for bathroom and kitchen countertops and it really improved my old counters!
Heat up 1 cup of white vinegar, mix in about 1/4 cup of Dawn Premium. Not the dollar store kind, because it is too thin. When mixed, pour into a spray bottle and fill with water. Do NOT use Magic eraser. Magic eraser acts like a very fine sandpaper and scratches easily.
The water spots would clean up with diluted vinegar in water then dry the surface with an absorbent towel. I’d be careful of anything that could scratch, mar or scuff the surface.
Hi Kathy, you can make the paste, mix baking soda with a little water. Apply the paste on the stained area and let it sit for a couple of hours. It is important to know that baking soda is abrasive and can scratch your countertop if scrubbed off.
