What to Do With Plastic Pumpkins?
For the yard: drill a hole in three or more plastic pumpkins. Poun a metal or wood stake into the ground, and stake the pumpkins on the stake. To lift them higher, put the stake through a bale or half bale of hay, then stack the pumpkins. Run tiny lights through the holes, too, to light the pumpkins.
If you need a project for kids, give the kids permanent markers and let them do self-portraits. Color the orange triangle with a circle of the color of the child’s eyes. Let the children draw any mouths they want. Have lots of yarn and cartoon wigs and dyed mop heads for hair. Or just more markers. Add a battery candle inside and the kids will have a very special gift to take home.
One more ideas is to cover each pumpkin with paper maché or plaster of Paris. When totally dry, spray paint them in various colors, like eggplant, purple, burnished copper, orange, blue, green, yellow, red, etc. You can paint the pumpkins without the covering, but they won’t look realistic. Pile them up, line them up, or string them up. There is nothing like pumpkins for Autumn! ☺️
