This is an easy project that adds to your holiday decor nicely!

It takes less than an hour and is super inexpensive.

I love decorating on a budget so I collected three paperback books for a dollar a piece at my local thrift store. I also was able to get the ribbon and the small ornaments at the same time. Total for both was $5 and I can make more for gifts with all the extra materials.

I also had some garland from a previous project so I used a piece of that to add color and texture. And lastly small piece of thin twine rope.

For the ornaments you could apply so many different types to coordinate with your other decorations.

This is a photo of the completed project.

I first removed the covers on each book. I selected aged books to get the vintage look. I also like the look of smaller books staked on larger ones.

When removing the cover, I selected a page that was either blank or had minimal writing on it to place as the top book. Most books have a blank back so you can always flip the book over to have blank page on top.

This is the books stacked

I then hot glued the edge of the binding to keep the books in the position I wanted.

If you're looking to fix antique books, learn how to repair book binding.

I then hot glued the ribbon on the underside of the stack. In this project I wanted the ribbon to be off center so the garland had room to lay on the stack of books.

Keep in mind if you have writing on the ribbon make sure it is visible and not covered under your decorations. In my case The Noel letters are slightly covered.

Here is the small ornaments I selected for the project.

I then selected three small ornaments and tied them together with the twine.

Then using the hot glue gun, I glued each ornament to the ribbon.

Then lastly, I tucked the garland stem under the ornaments and used the hot glue gun to glue it in place.

This is the book stack complete.

Hope you have fun with the project and feel free to add your own flare!

Let me know if you have any questions.

Happy Holidays.

Really cute. I like this a lot. Especially the vintage paperback. Everyone caught on the the hardback crafty stack and doubled the prices of the hardbacks. I would have never figured the alternative out. Thanks so much!
