How to make large lady bugs?
I want to make some outdoor wall art. While the premade stuff looks very good the prices are crazy. I have searched the internet but can't find any free patterns or explanation how making lady bugs from scratch. I found how to make little ones but I am looking at about 12 inches at least. I do a lot of DIY but am not crafty.
So this is the challenge do you accept?

Thank you for that info I am looking for patterns on how to make large ones at least 12 inches at the smallest point and ones that will withstand some weather outside.
Here's one I think would be easy to adapt to any size you want. I don't think this has a pattern but I think this is an easy one to copy just by looking at the lady bug itself. You don't have to put it on a stake. Since it is wood you can use some exterior house paint and it should last for years! Try a paper pattern first for your size and then you can cut it out on your wood with a scroll saw or a jig saw. You could even make it a bit more 3D by cutting the wings and body part separately.
I think I would go with plywood to make what you are describing. Draw a pattern onto cardboard or poster board for practice. I would find a pre-made one I really like and take a picture on my phone. Then "copy" that onto the your practice board until you love it. Then use that for your pattern.
Hi Mogie, I have seen some made out of beach balls. You paint large beach balls and then place them around the garden. You can weigh them down or attach them to something so they don't float/roll away.
I have also seen bowling balls painted with antlers added with coat hangers. These may not be large enough for what you are looking for though...
Hello. I wonder if you could make them out of embroidery hoops and a weather resistant nylon material.
What material do you want?
Hi Mogie, hope this helps you make the perfect lady bug.
